What is baby alpaca?
"Baby alpaca" is a fiber grade, not the age of the animal. It describes some of the finest, softest fiber from an alpaca's fleece. Our Russet and Honey throws are woven from 100% baby alpaca.
How does the alpaca blend differ from 100% baby alpaca?
Our Woodland, Mojave and Silver Birch throws are 60% alpaca and 40% acrylic. The blend is brushed for a plush, airy feel, is easy to live with every day and comes in two sizes. Baby alpaca is finer and lighter, with a fluid drape and fringed edges, in one generous throw size.
What sizes are available?
- Alpaca blend throw: about 45" × 70" (Silver Birch is about 50" × 70"). Sized for a sofa or armchair.
- Alpaca blend blanket: about 70" × 90". Covers the top of a full or queen bed.
- Baby alpaca throw: about 51" × 71".
Each piece is handwoven, so measurements can vary slightly.
Is alpaca itchy? Is it good for sensitive skin?
Alpaca is known for being soft against the skin. It contains no lanolin, the natural wax in sheep's wool that bothers some people, so many find it comfortable even when wool is not. If you have a known fiber allergy, check with your doctor first.
Will the color match the photos?
We do our best to show each colorway accurately, but screens vary and handwoven pieces differ slightly from batch to batch. Small differences in shade or stripe placement are part of handmade textiles and are not defects.
Care
Treat alpaca gently and it will last for years.
How do I clean my throw?
We recommend professional dry cleaning. To wash at home:
- Hand wash in cold water with a mild wool or alpaca wash.
- Soak briefly, swish gently and rinse in cold water. Do not wring or twist.
- Press out water by rolling the throw in a towel.
- Lay flat to dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Never tumble dry.
How should I store it?
Fold rather than hang, and store in a breathable cotton bag rather than plastic. A cedar block or lavender sachet helps keep moths away. Air your throw out now and then between uses.
My throw is pilling or has creases. What should I do?
Light pilling is normal for soft fibers, especially in the first weeks. Lift pills with a fabric comb or sweater stone. To relax creases, hang the throw in a steamy bathroom or use a garment steamer held a few inches away. Do not iron directly.
Orders and shipping
When will my order ship?
Orders leave us within 1-3 business days. Ground delivery then takes 3-7 business days and Express takes 2-3 business days. You will receive a tracking number by email when your order ships. See our shipping policy.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship to street addresses in the contiguous United States. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes, Alaska, Hawaii or U.S. territories yet. If you are outside our area, contact us and we will see what we can do.
How much is shipping?
Ground shipping is free on orders over $75, which includes every throw we sell. Express shipping is $25.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email us at info@tryfittrim.com as soon as possible with your order number. If your order has not shipped yet, we will update or cancel it. Once it has shipped, our standard return policy applies.
Can I send a throw as a gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient's address at checkout and add a gift note in your bag; we will include the note with the order.
Returns
What is your return policy?
You can request a return within 30 days of delivery for items that are unused, unwashed and in their original packaging with tags. Refunds go to your original payment method after we receive and inspect the item. Return shipping is paid by the customer unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect. My throw arrived damaged or it is the wrong item.
We are sorry. Email info@tryfittrim.com within 3 days of delivery with your order number and photos, and we will arrange a replacement or refund at no cost to you.
Can I exchange for a different size or colorway?
Yes, once per order and within 30 days of delivery, subject to availability. Contact us to start an exchange. Shipping costs for exchanges are the customer's responsibility.
